Last weekend, XRAY team drivers John Watkins and Ashley Peeler make the trip across the Bass Straight to the Southern tip of Australia, Tasmania, to compete in the first ever 1/10th EP Tasmanian State titles hosted by Goodwood Off Road RC Car club.

Upon arrival drivers were greeted with a flowing, high speed and ultra grippy track. This saw John and Ash bolting in all the Flex tune chassis screws to cope with the high grip and smooth surface. This was John’s first event with the newly released XB4 and Ash’s 2nd major event after a successful outing at the Keilor Stock shootout.

This was a control tyre event with the chosen tyre being AKA Rebar in Super Soft compound.

The qualifying pace was intense with Watkins and Peeler taking 1 round each with Peeler setting a blazing pace in Q4 to seal TQ. The XRAY’s showed a dominant performance during qualifying with the pair putting almost a lap on the entire field on more than one occasion.

During the Finals, Watkins and Peeler jumped out to an early lead with Watkins first over the line and the win in A1. In A2 Peeler showed why he won 3 other State titles at this weekend taking the win over Watkins by less than 1 second. A3 saw an unfortunate retirement by Peeler on the penultimate lap, Handing Watkins his first ever State title Win!

John’s XRAY XB4 was super consistent all weekend and suited the high speed and flowing layout of the Goodwood track. The only changes he made to his setup all weekend, were going 2.5wt heavier in shock oil all round to cope with the heat and he went to 2 Degrees Camber all round to cope with the high speeds.

Thanks to the Support of Ari @ Hei International for an awesome car all weekend and the Support of team mate Ash Peeler in the pits.
